The first thing I did was try and find a home video overlay for the handheld camera footage.
I found a template and with permission I chose to use it for my music video.
I inserted the template into Premiere on the clips I wanted as homevideos
I scaled it to fit the screen so that the borders matched.
Then I looked up how to use a green screen overlay
I managed to overlay it on top of the home video parts before the chorus.
Then I did a montage effects of a moving clip by splitting it at certain points and joining it together again after each home video clip
Then for the main chorus bit I had a combination of the same clip three times except I reversed the middle clip to make it look continuous but an almost clip reverse effect to almost foreshadow that it is actually an old home video that someone is watching in the future.
I did the same thing with the other two main choruses:
So my structure for the main chorus would be: home video, montage and play-reverse-play effect.
