In order to carry the narrative into the party scene I wanted to add a text message effect at the end of the scene before when they look down at the phone.
In order to do this I did a bit of research and found a youtube video:
I followed the tutorial above and my steps are down below.
First i found any text message template online and downloaded it.
Then I opened it up on Photoshop and cropped a single text message bubble.
Then I used the colour match tool and selected the colour blue in the text box.
I then selected the message bubble using the quick selection tool and filled it in the same colour to get rid of the text already in the bubble. I also used the magic eraser tool to get rid of the background so I could use it in photoshop.
Then I opened up the clip in after effects by exporting it from Premiere Pro and linking the programs together so any manipulation in After Effects updates the music video in Premiere Pro automatically. Then I inserted the text message bubble.
I added 5 marker points in the timeline and on each marker point adjusted the size of the message bubble to normal, slightly big, small and then back to normal. This creates an almost bounce effect when the text message appears.
Then I added text message at the first marker point saying 'Party tonight? - Jake' so my scene can naturally be lead into the next.
After this I just adjusted when the first marker and last to play around with when the message appears and leaves and then saved.
