Post-Production Planning: Editing Session 7 (Location 3 & Ending)

13:38

In this last editing session I wanted to work on adding in the last scene of my music music.

Following the previous scene is the party scene. I introduced it by using an out of focus shot of lights that focuses into the scene following the blackout transition from the last scene. This is a similar transition I used to introduce my indoor market scene previously.

I began by using shots that determined the atmosphere and set the scene of the party. This includes shot of drinks and red cups and a music mixer.
I then added in the rest of the clips which include Jay and Nicole greeting the host and the other guests and just general clips of people engaging in conversation and playing beer pong.
When the line 'so get drunk' comes on, I start introducing the characters singing along. I interweave clips of them singing alongside other clips from the party

[
When the drum beats start to build momentum in the lyrics 'put me in my place' to byuld up to the chorus I cross cut two clips - one of which is Nicole singing the lyrics and the other which is her laughing. I cross cut each clip to fit in time with each drum beat so it would switch between the two clips

I also found some clips that I really liked as they were very candid and helped highlight my party atmosphere however one of these showed Jay looking at the camera so I decided to turn it into a home video like some of my other clips. I started off by knocking down the quality of the image so it fit the style of the other real home video clips and dulled down the colour using the video effect tools. Then I added the same green screen overlay from my previous home video clips on top so it fit the style of a home video.

For the main line of the chorus which is 'I miss you', I did the same play-reverse-play effect that I have used for each chorus to keep my continuity. i did this with the ball being dropped into the drink.

For the last lyrics of 'I miss you' instead of doing the same play-reverse-play effect, I put the same clip in three times for each lyric repeat and flipped the middle clip horizontally. So instead of this part being play-reverse play, it was play-flip-play. Then I ended the scene with a clip of Nicole laughing. I also added in my concluding clips of my music video which was a shot of a laptop, phone and flowers which I had shot too as I thought it was better to add it in at this stage than create a separate editing session on just three clips. I have now added in all clips for y music video!
